For quite some time now, the rappa-ternt-sanga has been pretty tight with Lil Wayne and the Young Money camp, and when Pain got a custom $100,000 YM chain in January, rumors of his signing with Young Money began to hit the blogs.
However, it's no rumor.
Akon recently confirmed, via an interview with VladTV, that T-Pain is set to leave his label ... but, only after the release of his next album, which would be his last under contract.
"That's Pain's business decision," Akon said of the move to Young Money. "We got one one more album, which is the one he's about to release now. After that, Pain is free.
"He's his own man, his own entrepreneur. Decisions from this point, he has to make them on his own," he continued. "I'm happy for him whichever way he goes. That's my little brother, he gets the support from us."
New York jeweler, Gabriel Jacobs, let the cat out of the bag earlier this year, when he showed VladTV the custom-designed YM chain he made for the singer.
"T-Pain's about to sign to Young Money," Jacobs said at the time. "He better, after doing this. So you see it's all blacked out. It's all natural, red rubies, black diamonds. We gotta put a red ruby necklace on this thing. The pendant is worth around $45,000 and when it's with its chain, it will cost $100,000."
Pain's upcoming rEVOLVEr album will be his last with Konvict Muzik. At press time, it still had no release date.
