HOW TO BE A BETTER DANCER

Improving your dancing skills after you've been a beginner for a time requires increased dedication and a willingness to try new skills that will push you beyond beginner boundaries. This article provides a number of ideas to help you.

    Practice makes perfect. Of course, no one is perfect, but everything can be improved. Practicing can definitely improve your technique, steps, confidence, etc.

    Stretch! Stretching can improve your flexibility as well as your dancing. The more stretched you are, the better your jumps will look, and your steps, etc. Stretching can also help prevent injuries. Even small stretches like jumping-jacks or stretching in the running position helps stretch out your hips for more flexibility.

    Eat right. A good diet (not one of the ones you go on to lose weight!) can make you a better dancer. The better you eat, the better you are.

    Exercise. Exercising can help you be a better dancer, too. Crunches can make jumps look stronger and make it easier to keep your balance on turns and steps that you have to hold. Push up makes your posture and your shoulders look much better.

    Do ballet. Whatever your choice of dance, ballet is the foundation of all dance. It can help improve your technique and your posture.Even if you don't do ballet or not interested. Just dance for fun.

    Work on your confidence. Even if you're not out on that dance floor, roll your shoulders back and hold your head high, so you look confident on the stage, too. If you're a competitive dancer, confidence helps boost your score.

    Join a dance team. Being part of a team will make your dancing stronger.

    Watch others. stand behind someone who is better at the skill you are working on. Watch their technique and try to "copy" what they do.

    Ask! Don't be afraid to ask for help. That's what teachers and captains are there for.

Tips

  • Try to go over your corrections when you practice, so it is easier to focus on the dance during class or a performance instead of worrying about your corrections.
  • Always make a bigger effort and push yourself to the limit.
  • Pay attention to the music your dancing to and really try to get into it. Maybe attitude and feeling is what you're missing.
  • When you're practicing at home, get a parent, sibling, or friend to watch you. Ask them for feedback afterwards.
  • Get some feedback from your teachers. Their advice always comes in handy!
  • Practice your routine at home so you know it better when you come to the next class.
  • Even if you can't practice full out, try listening to your music and going over the moves mentally.
  • Don't let your doubt undermine your skill. with courage and perseverance, you can accomplish anything.
  • Breathe, it makes movements seem effortless.
  • Always try your best and give your all to create good stamina and endurance.

  • Be careful when trying things for the first time! Always have someone with you when your doing something for the first time. Preferably someone that knows something about dance. For example, your dance teacher.
